How much will my tickets cost and how can I pay. The price of your ticket is show against the listings on the left hand side of this page (Opens new window). You can ONLY pay in cash on entering the room. You cannot pre-pay, nor can you pay for "friends coming later" as you enter (as we will have no idea who they are!). The bar accept CASH ONLY for sales up to £10 but if you spend over £10 you can probably pay using a card but you cannot get "Cash back" against it. There is NO ATM (Cash machine) at the venue.

What or where is the secret link
What or where is the secret link Once a person has booked they are advised where they can find a hidden link on the web site that takes them to a shorter form to use in future. It is no big deal, just a couple of questions less. If you are trying to book you are not OBLIGED to use it, just book on the normal form (and from 2017 a small cookie on the site may send you to the shorter form anyway).
.
What is the age limit for young persons coming in to the club?
What is the age limit for young persons coming in to the club? There isn't one! Realistically children under 10 might get bored and certainly a crying baby would not add to the evenings entertainment, but as long as children are well behaved, do not run between the bars and do not try to purchase alcohol then they are welcome. Please note that usually a charge is made, and if they wish to smoke they must go outside with the grown ups. As a general rule children under 10 would NOT be admitted unless it was to a "quieter" night - best to ask.
Persons under 18 who wish to come WITHOUT AN ADULT are asked to contact us, usually it would be possible to admit you.
.
What is the nearest tube/bus stop.
What is the nearest tube/bus stop. The nearest tube is Ruislip, where there is also Ruislip Bus Station, the nearest actual bus stop is in West End Road about 300 yards away, and is for the E7 bus towards Ealing. For full, comprehensive travel information go to how to find the Tropic at Ruislip
.
Can I film or take pictures? Yes, both are permitted unless we announce you may not. SOME bands will ask you NOT to post new material on web sites such as YouTube, please respect this. Legally Tropic At Ruislip owns copyright to all material (as it is a private place and I have booked the venue) so you may not SELL any of it without permission from me.

Why do you start and finish late? It makes public transport somewhat difficult.
Why do you start and finish late? It makes public transport somewhat difficult. We do not get access to the room until 6.30, we then have to set up the PA (sometimes it comes early) and sort out the band, lights, furniture etc. We normally do doors for 8.30/8.45 giving the band 45 ish minutes to relax and get changed etc. before they come on at 9.30. We ALWAYS (should!) finish at midnight. Most tube trains will still be running from Ruislip if you get away smartly to the station, as will the buses. There are various options suggested on this page.
.
What time to the doors open and bands come on?
What time to the doors open and bands come on? FRIDAYS and SATURDAYS Doors usually 8.30, main band on 9.30 to midnight, usually with a break. If we have a support the support band may well be on as early as 8.45. SUNDAYS doors about 8.00 and music finishes on a Sunday at 11.00.
All other days are shown at the head of this page
.
Is there a bar/real ale/food etc?
Is there a bar/real ale/food etc? Full bar, one or two real ales. No food apart from crisps, nuts etc. over the bar. For food best to stop off on the way at Ruislip MANOR where you will also find a Wetherspoons. The club is a 15 minute walk to Ruislip Manor down Shenley Avenue/Cranley Drive/Grosvenor Vale.
.
What are the toilets like (!) Actually - reasonable!!! And nobody in there offering to squirt soap in to your palm for 50p
.
How good is access for the disabled?
How good is access for the disabled? Not bad - see seating policy
.
Why when I come in do I see tables reserved? Can I reserve one?
Why when I come in do I see tables reserved? Can I reserve one? See seating policy
.
If I want a seat but do not want to sit to the side can I move the tables on to the dance floor?
If I want a seat but do not want to sit to the side can I move the tables on to the dance floor? For every gig the arrangements with tables/seating is given careful consideration. The best option is to ask at the time, but as a general rule of thumb if we are very busy we normally do it as a stand up only on the dance floor.
.
If I do not reserve a ticket will I still get in?
If I do not reserve a ticket will I still get in? Generally yes, although of course it will normally cost you a little more. We would post on the web site home page just before the gig starts if we think it will sell out. BUT some gigs do sell out, so booking is advisable in ALL CASES.
.
I have epilepsy, are strobe effects used?
I have epilepsy, are strobe effects used? Yes, sometimes. Best to ask.
.
The venue is known as Ruislip Social Club, yet Ruislip Manor USED to play there and now it is the home ground of Wealdstone which is part of Harrow - what is the story?
The venue is known as Ruislip Social Club, yet Ruislip Manor USED to play there and now it is the home ground of Wealdstone which is part of Harrow - what is the story? Although in Ruislip technically, it was the home of Ruislip Manor Football Club, (where it could be said that the far end of the land is technically in Ruislip Manor). Wealdstone played IN Wealdstone but many years ago their ground was sold to Tesco and a proposed new ground was never built. They ground shared with various clubs but when Ruislip Manor FC could no longer keep up the rent for the ground and moved somewhere cheaper well outside Ruislip, Wealdstone came in, where Wealdstone have a greater fan base.
.
What is a good number to call for a taxi?
What is a good number to call for a taxi? Personal Cars 01895 624444, they have an office at Ruislip Station. You will also find adverts for other cab firms around the club itself when you are there.
.
Can my band play at the venue?
Can my band play at the venue? Bands wishing to play are invited to contact us, but before we move anything forward we would want to hear a demo. Please note that we very rarely book bands that play just "covers" and then, with one or two notable exceptions, only really as a support band. E-mail is best to contact us.
.
Why do you sometimes allow only those that have pre-booked in first?
Why do you sometimes allow only those that have pre-booked in first? On busy nights we allow pre-books in ahead of walk-up customers. The venue has a room limit of 300, imagine if we had pre-booking for 290 and at the front of the queue were a group of say 20 who had not booked and we let them all in first. This would mean that by the time we arrived at the back of the queue we would be turning away people who had booked when we had allowed in people who had not. Therefore where the pre-book is OVER 250 we only allow pre-books in first.
.
How do I cancel/amend my booking?
How do I cancel/amend my booking? This is an easy one. Everything is all read by a person so to make any changes to your booking at all, go to this page (Bookings are held under customer SURNAME and E-Mail) Do NOT change a booking just by sending an e-mail, use the little form please.
.
Is there a dress code? Beyond the realms of common decency no. Most folk turn up in jeans and a t-shirt, as do the staff! That said if you wish to come in your finery please do!
.
Ska nights Tropic At Ruislip is NOT the promoter of the Ska nights there, they do this themselves at the club, please go to their web site
.
Ticket Printing You are advised to print your ticket in case, when you arrive, your name is not on our pre-book list. In practice if you don't have a copy of it and you are not on the list we may charge you the walk up price. We do STRONGLY suggest you print your tickets on sell out nights...just in case (Of course a copy on your phone etc. is fine).
.
Checking in a coat There is no room for a coat check-in. On most nights we position a table in the back corner of the room where you are welcome to leave a coat AT YOUR OWN RISK. When the pile of coats is about three feet high it gets to be fun trying to find yours!!
I left something at a recent gig and want to see if it was handed in (Lost Property)
I left something at a recent gig and want to see if it was handed in (Lost Property): Please call the club on 01895 637 487 for all matters to do with lost property.

How far away is the nearest cash point?
How far away is the nearest cash point? The nearest cash point is a good 15/20 minutes walk away in Ruislip High Street. There is NO cash machine at the venue, you can ONLY PAY CASH TO GET IN FOR A GIG. You can buy drinks on a card subject to a minimum transaction of £10.00 (correct 2019).
